Why a future self at all
This is the opposite of escapism
The future self is not a fantasy to retreat into. It exists to make today visible. Without one, the day simply happens to you, and a year of days that happened to you is how people arrive at forty wondering where the decade went.
Research from UCLA on future self-continuity found that when people picture their future self vividly, realistically and view them warmly, they make markedly better long-term decisions. When the future self feels like a stranger, people treat them like one. They hand them the debt, the consequences and the deferred plans, because a stranger's problems are not yours.
The Fore Method is a structured way of making that person real enough to act on behalf of. That is the whole mechanism, and it is why the book is dated, physical and daily rather than an app you would stop opening in week three.
The structure
Four parts, twelve weeks
The Fore Session
The blueprint, completed once in a single sitting and revisited every ninety days. The belief inventory. The belief swap exercise. Naming your future self. Bringing them into focus. The single frame. And a letter written to them.
The Daily Rise
Five minutes every morning, before the inbox. Locate them. Ask what they need you to do today. Write the answer in their voice. Then ask what they would believe while doing it.
The Gap Review
Fifteen minutes at the end of each week. Where the week and the intention separated, why, and what changes on Monday. The gap is the information.
The Twelve Weeks
Six dated fortnightly spreads with morning and evening pages, so the practice has a home and you can see the streak building on the paper.
The object
What £50 actually buys
This is a physical book, not a download, and the price reflects that. 120 pages. A4. Hardcover, so it survives twelve weeks of being carried, opened flat and written in every morning.
The £11 guide teaches the principles. This is where they are practised. If you have read the guide and nothing changed, this is almost always the missing piece, because reading is not the intervention. Writing it down every morning for twelve weeks is.

No, but it helps. The guide teaches the eleven principles in about forty minutes. The workbook is twelve weeks of practising them. Most people read the guide first because it makes the first Fore Session considerably easier to complete.
Five minutes in the morning for the Daily Rise, and fifteen minutes at the end of the week for the Gap Review. The Fore Session itself takes one longer sitting at the start and is revisited every ninety days. That is the whole commitment.
